Meet the team
Bryn Melyn Care is led by a multi-disciplinary Operations Board with each role having lead responsibility for their area of practice expertise. This group is collectively responsible for the development of practice strategy and the onging monitoring of performance across the organisation. We would like to take a moment to introduce the roles and the individual members of the team.
Steve Nevitt, Operations Director
This role, in conjuction with the Finance Director, is responsible for leading the organisation in terms of practice and business, providing line management to the Operations Board and promoting Bryn Melyn Care in developing and influencing specialist therapeutic care in the UK. This role, supported by the Operations Board is responsible for setting the culture within the organisation, driving continual improvement and working with key stakeholders across the sector to improve outcomes for young people.

Steve is a qualified social worker who has been working with children and young people for over 20 years in a variety of residential settings including a local authority secure unit. He also spent five years as a social worker and managed a mulit-disciplinary youth offending team before joining Bryn Melyn Care as a divisional director in 2005.
Martin Deleay, Finance Director
In conjunction with the Operations Director this role has joint responsibility for leading and developing the organisation. This role is also responsible for managing finance, IT and administration functions of the business.
As a qualified chartered accountant, Martin is an experienced Finance Director primarily in the SME sector and has over 18 years post qualification in a number of commercial finance roles in such sectors as mulit-site retail and leisure, B2B services, manufacturing and FMCG.
Martin brings a wealth of specialist working knowledge and experience in dealing with issues that affect SME's focusing on business structure and organisation, developing reporting systems in order to monitor financial performance and to help identify areas of the business requiring attention.
Martin joined Bryn Melyn Care as Finance Director in September 2009.
Tom Ellison, Directors of Care
This role is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of all Bryn Melyn Care homes, ensuring these run to the highest standards and remain integrated with clinical and education teams. Supoorted by three area managers, this role also manages referrals and placements. The role includes oversight of our professional staff training programme and the internal and external quality assurance monitoring.
Tom has over 15 years professional experience of working with young people who have experienced trauma, in a number of residential settings in the voluntary, public and private sectors. A former registered manager, Tom has experience of working in settings which include a residential school, a psychiatric provision for adolescents and numerous children’s homes as well as five years as a member of the senior management team for a provider of residential therapeutic services to children.
Tom holds a BPS approved bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in psychoanalytic observational studies from the Tavistock Clinic. Tom also holds postgraduate qualifications in management and strategic management and is a member of the Chartered Management Institute. Tom joined Bryn Melyn Care as the Director of Care in March 2010.

Lorraine Mosson-Jones, Director of Clinical Services

This role is responsible for managing and developing our clinical team of psychotherapists and forensic psychologists to deliver individual clinical case work and consultancy to teams. This role also includes contributing to the development of integrated practice and support to ensure our services meet Therapeutic Standards.
BA (Hons), MSc, MA
Lorraine joined Bryn Melyn Care Ltd in May 2008 and is the head of clinical services. She manages the clinical team comprised of clinicians with experience and skills in psychotherapy and forensic psychology and is a member of the Bryn Melyn Care senior management team.
Lorraine Mosson-Jones is a Chartered Forensic Psychologist. She has been chartered since 1999 and is an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and a full member of the Division of Forensic Psychology. She has a BA (Hons) in History and Psychology, and a Certificate in Education. She has two postgraduate qualifications; an MSc in Applied Criminological Psychology from Birkbeck College, University of London and an MA in US History and Institutions. She has a qualification in delivery of training.
As a forensic psychologist, Lorraine has worked with young people and adults with complex needs. She has had a specific interest in and extensive experience of working with young and adult women as well as men. Lorraine has many years experience of carrying out assessments and specifically undertaking risk assessments. She has worked with multi-disciplinary teams advising on risk and risk management. She also has extensive experience of delivering treatment interventions both with individuals and with groups. Lorraine has worked for many years within the criminal justice system. She has worked for the Prison Service, the Probation Service and NACRO.
Lorraine has managed psychological services and multi-disciplinary teams providing treatment services. She is an experienced senior manager with skills in project management and policy and strategy development.
Sarah Morgan, Director of Education

This role is responsible for overseeing all education provision and fulfilling the role of head teacher for our two schools. Supported by two education managers, this role ensures that our curriculum and programme responds to the needs of our young people and also ensures that education staff remain integrated with residential care and clinical teams.
BA(Hons) PGDip FAHE, NPQH
As head of education for Bryn Melyn Care, Sarah has overarching strategic responsibility for the vision, ethos, leadership and management of both Acorn and Smallbrook School. Sarah is supported by an education manager on each site who has operational responsibility for the day to day school management.
Sarah has previously worked with within the criminal justice system and successfully introduced a range of teaching and learning strategies to support young offenders with their educational needs. Sarah has advised the Education Select Committee on prison education, worked at senior manager level as part of a multi-disciplinary team to improve learning for offenders within a secure setting, and taken a lead training role in the government’s Skills for Life strategy.
Sarah's educational priority for both schools within Bryn Melyn Care is to maintain a learning environment in which young people are provided with a broad, balanced, integrated and flexible curriculum which is regularly reviewed and tailored to meet individual learning and behavioural needs.
