Inappropriate Sexualised Behaviour care
This specialist service is provided specifically for young people whose psychosexual development gives cause for concern. Our unique method of care and treatment manages and reduces the risk of presenting behaviours and also helps rebuild the young person’s confidence, understanding and ability to cope.
The Young Person’s role in rehabilitation
Young people are empowered to take a central role in the decisions that affect them, and actively engage in a process of positive restoration. They commit to working closely with our in-house forensic psychologist, and are taught to recognise their accountability and responsibilities towards others. This way they start to take control over their own lives and actions.
Our Method
Young people live in one of our intensive therapeutic homes with experienced residential workers operation as a dedicated team. This provides stability and normality, and allows us to concentrate on individual needs.
As a result, we quickly see significant improvements in their social, intellectual, vocational and personal skills. The homes (and schools) are supported by ongoing input from the clinical team to ensure a multi-disciplinary approach.
The focus is on behavioural targets and we ensure the young person achieves them by creating tailored packages of assessment and intervention that are underpinned by recognised cognitive behavioural principles.
We continuously monitor behaviour which allows us to accurately identify patterns, measure change an deliver the appropriate therapeutic interventions by our highly qualified team.
Families are encouraged to maintain links, subject to review decisions, and home visits or overnight accommodation for the young person’s family are regularly organised.
Our staff
All therapeutic practice is delivered by our in-house forensic psychologist or a qualified psychologist or social worker, and only experienced managers or clinicians are given responsibility for supervision and case management.
All staff have a sound understanding of and training in child protection protocols and relevant child care legislation. The team’s specialist skills portfolio includes cognitive-behavioural programmes; strengths-based models, relapse prevention, sexual education, group work, social skills training, mediation, anxiety and anger management. We have specific experience of multi-agency public protection and risk management in the community.
